Some sessions remind me exactly why I do this work. This Streeterville newborn session was one of them. There was no rushing, no watching the clock, and no pressure to get a certain shot in a certain amount of time. There was just a sweet baby, two loving parents, and plenty of space to let the morning unfold.
Patience Is the Heart of Every Newborn Session
I don’t put my clients on a time clock. I never have. Babies can’t be scheduled, and they certainly can’t be hurried. When a baby needs to eat, we pause. When a baby needs to be held, we pause. When a baby just needs a few quiet minutes to settle, we breathe and wait. That patience isn’t a bonus. It’s how I work, and it’s a big part of why my galleries feel the way they do.
Relaxed Parents Make for a Calmer Newborn Photo Session
Here’s what I want every family to understand: making sure you feel relaxed is a priority for me. It was so apparent during this Streeterville newborn session that we would need to go at baby’s pace. It happens sometimes, where babies are going through a growth spurt, or are hungrier. Babies pick up on the energy in the room, so when parents feel rushed or self-conscious, it shows up in the baby too. When you’re comfortable, your baby is more comfortable, and that’s when the real moments happen. It’s honesty over poses, always.
Capturing Newborn Details at Any Age
This little one was a bit older than the typical newborn, which can mean more movement, more curiosity, and more opinions. But because we weren’t chasing a schedule, we still made beautiful images of all the tiny details: the wrinkles of little fingers, the curl of tiny toes, the softness of a cheek against a parent’s shoulder. Those are the details that disappear so fast, and they’re the ones you’ll be so glad to have.
Unhurried Newborn Photography in Streeterville, Chicago
Whether your baby is a few days old or a few weeks past that fresh-baby stage, you don’t need to worry about whether it’s “too late” or whether your baby will cooperate. Your only job is to show up as you are. I’ll handle the patience.
