    There’s something about a cold Chicago morning when the sun actually shows up. Light pours through floor-to-ceiling condo windows, there’s no agenda, and nowhere to be. That’s exactly what we had for this Streeterville newborn session and honestly, as a Chicago newborn photographer, I’m still thinking about it. That kind of light makes everything feel softer, which is exactly what a brand new family deserves.

    Their First Baby, Their First Days

    This was their first, and everything that comes with that showed up right there in the room. Mom held him so carefully. Dad’s hand found her back at the crib without even thinking about it. Those aren’t posed moments — they just happen naturally, and my job is to stay quiet enough to catch them.

    Baby was wide-eyed and alert for most of our time together. Those blue eyes, that little red hair peeking out from his white knit bonnet I could have photographed his face for hours. Meanwhile, mom was radiant in the most beautiful navy dress, glowing against all that creamy window light. She was exhausted and stunning and so present. I truly hope she sees herself the way I saw her through my lens.

    Farmhouse Newborn Session Chicago | Baby Sully at Home

    There is a special place in my heart for this family, and capturing this Farmhouse newborn session Chicago  was an absolute joy. My dear friend Kayla recently welcomed her sixth lovely boy, Sully, and I couldn’t be happier for them. Their home is always filled with an incredible energy, everyone is so sweet, caring, and welcoming.

    Kayla and her husband are doing an incredible job raising these boys. Every time I visit for a session, I’m struck by how much fun we have. They make my job as a photographer so easy because their empathy and love truly overflow. On this occasion, I brought over some yummy cinnamon rolls from Whole Foods, and for that hour, I think I was officially their favorite person!

    One thing I will say is that I love a good challenge. 6 babies, a lot to coordinate but this was fun! The oldest kids are such great big brothers and helped so much. the little ones were harder to wrangle but we managed! the beauty of capturing what is!

    One thing I will say is that I love a good challenge. Six babies are a lot to coordinate, but this was fun! The oldest kids are such great big brothers. In fact, they helped so much during the shoot. However, the little ones were harder to wrangle. Nevertheless, we managed!     I love a Fresh 48 Prentice Hospital session. For those not ready for birth photography, this is perfect. Specifically, having a photoshoot with your new baby is a great experience. I adore babies’ tiny mannerisms fresh out of the womb. Consequently, I want to capture that for every family!

Little baby Atlas was incredibly sweet during his at-home session; consequently, we were able to capture his natural curliness and beautiful head of hair with ease. Specifically, I found that documenting his tiny baby yawns was just as rewarding as catching a fleeting smile.
