A Sun-Filled Morning | Chicago Newborn Session in Streeterville

There’s something about a cold Chicago morning when the sun actually shows up. Light pours through floor-to-ceiling condo windows, there’s no agenda, and nowhere to be. That’s exactly what we had for this Streeterville newborn session and honestly, as a Chicago newborn photographer, I’m still thinking about it. That kind of light makes everything feel softer, which is exactly what a brand new family deserves.

Their First Baby, Their First Days

This was their first, and everything that comes with that showed up right there in the room. Mom held him so carefully. Dad’s hand found her back at the crib without even thinking about it. Those aren’t posed moments — they just happen naturally, and my job is to stay quiet enough to catch them.

Baby was wide-eyed and alert for most of our time together. Those blue eyes, that little red hair peeking out from his white knit bonnet I could have photographed his face for hours. Meanwhile, mom was radiant in the most beautiful navy dress, glowing against all that creamy window light. She was exhausted and stunning and so present. I truly hope she sees herself the way I saw her through my lens.

Why In-Home Newborn Photography in Chicago Just Works

One of my favorite things about in-home newborn photography in Chicago is that your home tells the story too. The nursery, the wooden crib, the gallery wall frames you hung before you even knew his face all of it ends up in the gallery, and all of it matters. Beyond that, you don’t have to pack a bag, load a carseat, or stress about timing. We simply meet you where you already are.

Streeterville condos are made for this kind of session. Specifically, those high floors, big windows, and gorgeous diffused lakefront light do half my job for me. If you’ve been searching for a Chicago newborn photographer in Streeterville, this is exactly the kind of session I offer unhurried, in your home, in your light. Streeterville, one of Chicago’s most iconic lakefront neighborhoods, has some of the most beautiful natural light I’ve ever photographed in. If you’ve been searching for a Chicago newborn photographer in Streeterville, this is exactly the kind of session I offer in your home, in your light.

I loved how these Chicago Newborn Photographs turned out.

Farmhouse Newborn Session Chicago | Baby Sully at Home

There is a special place in my heart for this family, and capturing this Farmhouse newborn session Chicago  was an absolute joy. My dear friend Kayla recently welcomed her sixth lovely boy, Sully, and I couldn’t be happier for them. Their home is always filled with an incredible energy, everyone is so sweet, caring, and welcoming.

Kayla and her husband are doing an incredible job raising these boys. Every time I visit for a session, I’m struck by how much fun we have. They make my job as a photographer so easy because their empathy and love truly overflow. On this occasion, I brought over some yummy cinnamon rolls from Whole Foods, and for that hour, I think I was officially their favorite person!

Capturing the Magic of a Large Family

As a result of being a photographer, I am often asked about my secrets. People want to know how to have a successful farmhouse newborn session Chicago. First, my answer is always to embrace the chaos! For example, when you have six energetic boys, the best photos happen naturally. Therefore, it isn’t about everyone looking at the camera perfectly. Instead, it is about a big brother holding a tiny hand.

Furthermore, this farmhouse newborn session Chicago shows why I love documentary photography. We spent time exploring the property together. Meanwhile, the kids were simply being themselves. Overall, these sessions are about more than just pictures. They preserve the feeling of home. If you are planning a session, choose a location with meaning. In conclusion, this farmhouse was the perfect spot for Kayla’s crew

Tips for a Successful Farmhouse Newborn Session Chicago

One thing I will say is that I love a good challenge. Six babies are a lot to coordinate, but this was fun! The oldest kids are such great big brothers. In fact, they helped so much during the shoot. However, the little ones were harder to wrangle. Nevertheless, we managed! The beauty is capturing what truly is.

Finally, I want to thank this family for letting me into their world. Whether we are inside the cozy farmhouse or outside in the yard, the love is clear. If you are looking for a farmhouse newborn session Chicago, remember that the best photos come from being yourself. Soon, these little ones will be grown, so capturing these moments now is vital. Thank you for following along with Baby Sully’s story

Fresh 48 Prentice Hospital | Chicago Newborn

I love a Fresh 48 Prentice Hospital session. For those not ready for birth photography, this is perfect. Specifically, having a photoshoot with your new baby is a great experience. I adore babies’ tiny mannerisms fresh out of the womb. Consequently, I want to capture that for every family!

In fact, one of my favorite images is the baby discovering the world. For example, seeing a tiny hand over a face is so sweet. Furthermore, we used grandpa’s hat in these photos. Therefore, the session felt very personal and special. These newborn photos capture family connection when it is most raw and beautiful

Minimalist Newborn Photography Chicago | Baby Atlas At-Home

The Art of Minimalist Newborn Photography in Chicago

This minimalist newborn photography session in Chicago was a wonderful experience to document. Little baby Atlas was incredibly sweet during his at-home session; consequently, we were able to capture his natural curliness and beautiful head of hair with ease. Specifically, I found that documenting his tiny baby yawns was just as rewarding as catching a fleeting smile.

Why I Specialize in Minimalist Newborn Photography

Furthermore, I believe that “less is always more” when it comes to newborn portraits. When you choose a minimalist style, the focus remains entirely on the baby’s natural beauty instead of distracting props. As a result, the images feel timeless and authentic. We moved through this session effortlessly, which is always my primary goal. Because new parents already face enough stress, I strive to make every at-home session as calm as possible.

By focusing on a minimalist aesthetic, we can:

    • Listen to the baby’s cues, which subsequently ensures a peaceful environment.
    • Utilize natural light to create soft, airy, and timeless portraits.
    • Capture genuine connections within the comfort of your own Chicago home.

Preparing for Your Chicago Minimalist Session

If you are planning a minimalist newborn photography session in Chicago, the most important thing you can do is relax. For example, you do not need an elaborately decorated nursery to get beautiful results. Instead, a simple neutral blanket or a soft swaddle is often all we need. Ultimately, my goal is to document your family exactly as you are. Clean, simple, and deeply in love. Therefore, we focus on the small details, like tiny fingers and quiet snuggles, that you will want to remember forever. In conclusion, choosing a minimalist approach ensures that your photos will never go out of style. Finally, this ensures your memories remain the priority. As a Chicago Newborn photographer means working with many lovely first time parents.

Fresh 48 Photography at Prentice Women’s Hospital

Welcoming twins into the world is a double blessing. Recently, I had the honor of visiting Sam and Lucas at the hospital for a Fresh 48 session. As a Prentice Hospital newborn photographer, I love being one of the first people to document a family’s new beginning. Indeed, it was wild to see that one of the boys shares the same name as my own son! It is always a beautiful experience to see new babies entering the world.

Capturing Twin Life as a Prentice Hospital Newborn Photographer

With so much uncertainty in the world, working with these tiny humans is a necessary pause. In fact, newborns are so dependent on us to show up for them. This little family is just starting their journey, and there is so much hope in that beginning.

Additionally, this was my first time back at Prentice since the world changed in 2020. While the world may look and feel different now, the pure joy of new parenthood never changes. For example, the way a mother looks at her twins in those first 48 hours is a timeless emotion. My role as a Prentice Hospital newborn photographer is to make sure those quiet, blurry first days are never forgotten.

Why Book a Hospital Session at Prentice?

Furthermore, I find that hospital sessions offer a unique documentary perspective. Because these sessions happen within the first two days of birth, they capture the raw, unpolished beauty of your new reality. Whether it’s the hospital bracelets or the tiny clear bassinet, these details matter.

Ultimately, my goal is to preserve these fleeting memories. If you are delivering at Prentice Women’s Hospital and want to document your baby’s first hours, I would love to connect. In conclusion, these first moments are precious. Therefore, investing in professional photography ensures you can relive them forever
