It’s my first session back! finally. I can’t believe it. I’m so so happy to be back to work. The time away from all of my clients has been hard but also it solidified that I absolutely love my job so much. This new normal has been so hard on all of us. Harder on others, i don’t doubt. I feel so grateful that I am able to slow down my time and get time to stay home with my kids. I know many essential workers don’t get that luxury. I am planning a giveaway for some of those families.
I photographed this sweet session, and I wasn’t sure what to expect. Being confined to a single space is new to me. Also I wasn’t sure how I would accomodate the social distancing and how it would influence my shooting style. I am happy to say that I can manage. I have added some tigher crops in post for a little variation that I love, and maintaining my favorite wide angle shoots. I guess if you’re not a photographer this all means nothing to you. haha, All of this to say, I loved it.
What a time to be a live. I am a true believer that art can always bring some strenght and beauty to any specific moment. The memories of this time will be so rough. But capturing some smiles can soften that up. If you are able to have a photographer capture your family, I highly encourage you to book it. Time is fleeting, even if its the crappiest time currently.
Oh how this year will live in infamy for all of the plans it’s destroyed and the amount of plans that have changed because of it. But in the midst of all of that is a ton of opportunities to see and live life a little differently. I have seen numerous Covid weddings and they’ve […]
I cannot belive this little beauty is four already. We were there to welcome her, the weekend after her birth. She was so insanely beautiful and tiny with the darkestlittle curls all around her head. I have a photograph of my baby zo holding her and its one of my favorite photos of the two. […]
This week I am highly reminiscing about my session in Austin. I taught a bunch of incredible women how to shoot more abstract and diffrent by using a little bit of freelensing. For those that don’t know about freelensing, Freelens means being intentional with bokeh and blur. It takes a little bit of patience and […]
With tiny little Valentina the Villagomez family expanded their hearts to become a family of four. She has been the tiniest baby I have photographed. My favorite part about newborns is their super curly qualities and the tiny little fists they can’t help but form. The way they wrap their tiny hands around their loved ones. Did I mentione that her big sister is one! Still just a baby herself and already feeling so proud. This family is incredibly beautiful and Im so happy I had a chance to photograph them in this new chapter in their life.
Flabbergasted by her beauty.
Sometimes in this line of work you get meet some truly calm and powerful souls. The way in which she told me her birth plan was amazing, full of hope and steadiness. Nothing could rock her.
For her session we headed to the beach, probably the only available location due to the high temperatures, the typical icy lake turned Luke warm. It was refreshing. To say that she made my job easy would be an understatement. It like she was made for basking in the sun.
To give you an update she had her birth, that same one she told me about, she brought to fruition. Just like I knew she would.
I finally managed to piece together this tiny and imperfect video of my kids at Starved Rock Park. I have been wanting to take on video for such a long time, but I always make excuses for mastering it or at least taking baby steps into learning more about it.
Like always, when presented with any new challenge my first instinct is to run, in the opposite direction. But in doing it, comes so much satisfaction. Hope you enjoy it.
Oh my my, what a great privilege it is to now capture this beautiful family into their second baby. I started capturing this family when Big brother was in the belly, and now he’s a big, busy 1-year-old.
Baby Harlow wasn’t as calm as her big brother at this age, she is just as cute, however. Time certainly does not feel real. It’s only reflected in the chubby faces staring back at us. I look forward to seeing this little beauty all year long.

I love capturing fading baby features.
Before long Mr. H will no longer be a baby but a full-on toddler. Those sweet curls in his tiny baby hairs will get more straight and rugged, those chubby cheeks will also deflate a bit, and that sweet baby walk will turn into something more refined and full of power.
This family is also adding a second addition next year, so he will also be a big brother as he is exiting babyhood!
We reached the end of the line for this sweet baby boy’s FIRST-year photographs. I got to meet him and I can tell you that his demeanor is so sweet and so very attached to his mama. Which I love because I also have a boy that is attached to the hip of me, these days not s much but it happens from time to time. I wish them the very best and it was an honor to capture this sweet boy’s first year.
