Catching up on my blogging, and this family has been a part of my photography journey since the beginning. They have grown into this beautiful little foursome. My husband and Ian, the dad have been friends since high school. That’s a long history and seeing each other’s kids grow up. Our daughters are even a few days away with birthdays. And actually I was at her first birthday pregnant and uncomfortable, then gave birth like a day or two later. How crazy is that.
For this session we got lucky with the perfect early morning calm skies and wind day. Actually I think we all worked up a sweat. It’s always an honor to capture their love.
It is such a joy to do this job. It’s crazy to think that I captured that sweet child’s newborn photos. Now she’s this rambunctious big kid who just made every image glow with her sweet soul. I was beyond thrilled when Angelina reached out to capture them in their new home for the holidays. I am now getting around to sharing these. Let me tell you a little about how much love I feel when I am in their presence. Nothing but happy kids and inviting personalities. I always leave their session so full of content.
I won’t lie, I am full on wandering what this beautiful estate looks like in the summer. I hope you love these lovely images.
An amazing company reached out for this shoot! So I headed out to these beautiful woods in River Forest IL. It’s such an amazing town. Pay’s family was just so stunning. This little baby was so chill and easy going, she really made my job so easy. Every time she had a moment, dad would put on baby shark and she was all smiles.
One of the most important aspects of my job is making sure I capture families in their truth. & Have their love be reflected 100%. So it was so much fun to capture their love. Also I was so grateful for the cooler sun shine day. In Illinois we really have to be mindful of ticks and other bugs.
Back in April I had the freaking experience of a lifetime. I watched a beautiful mama catch her sweet baby boy. This birth is actually in two parts, we had two nights. I was called over and sent home the first day, even though no baby came that day. I got to know her incredible birth team. By the way she had never had anyone present for her two prior births. When she stalled out, at 4 cm, she decided to not intervene with her process and allowed that baby to stay put for as long as he needed to. Remember patience is a virtue. The second night we were called over I opted to take the highway since I wasn’t sure how quick it would be, and man am I gald I took the faster route. That sweet boy was extremely quick. I got there and withing 15 minutes, in a blink of an eye he was here. She is a badasss and i am so lucky to have captured this incredible moment.
We caught a sunny day. Lately its nothing but rain rain rain. I was so happy that we had the time to head over to photograph this beautiful mama. While we did not get a hold of gorgeous gold light we still managed to get some dreamy shots experimenting with light. No matter what type of light maternity sessions land on. Mother’s to be just have that incredible, honest to god, natural glow. They don’t even have to try.
This mama is about to give birth to her third baby boy. & as faith would have it, she finally got a big deal doctors appointment for her middle-to be child. Just as shes about to welcome a new baby. Women are such warriors and I know for certain that she will rise to the occasion, be the biggest advocate for him. and at the same time care and swoon over this new baby. Life is such a trip. I cannot wait to meet this new baby.
6 months have gone by since her newborn shoot. Its crazy to see how fast time flies. What a concept. These little babies wear the time stamp so very pronounced. Their cheeks and chubby thighs, balance and hair growth shot it. Every day is a new change. So don’t blink and capture all of their babyhood.
This sweet little lady was mostly all smiles. She’s learning to balance when she seats, and is so aware of her brother’s presence . Looking over at him every time she could. I’m looking forward to seeing her one last time this summer.
I finally managed to piece together this tiny and imperfect video of my kids at Starved Rock Park. I have been wanting to take on video for such a long time, but I always make excuses for mastering it or at least taking baby steps into learning more about it.
Like always, when presented with any new challenge my first instinct is to run, in the opposite direction. But in doing it, comes so much satisfaction. Hope you enjoy it.
I made it, I finally got to see this beautiful boy again.
He was my first hospital birth, my only complaint would be those thin mattresses used for the birthing partner to sleep on, holy ouch. That’s a no from me. lol. How do they make partners nap or even sleep overnight there? I was able to test them out during my birth session with them. While uncomfortable It was still such an honor to see this sweet little guy make his very vocal entrance onto this world.
I couldn’t believe how alert and big he had gotten. I know a ton of my colleagues are not fond of 3 months sessions because babies are not able to sit or do much. But that’s the point!!! (me with my shouty exclamation points) They are this lovely tiny human just needing their moms just as much as a newborn while smiling and cooing and just being rad.
bring on more 3-month sessions, please!

Here back again with this beautiful family. When I met K she was a mom of two and so was I. While I still am a mom of two, she has added two additional beautiful boys since then. I couldn’t tell you how different we are. Once of the things we have in common is our love for our kids. She inspires me to be have more patience and speak with love, and honestly she makes me feel sane. Her family is insanely kind and so stunning. I am so honored to be able to call her a friend. I hope you enjoy her gallery.

What a whirlwind of a time I had leading up to this birth. My client had mentioned that she, with every delivery, always got prodromal labor. While I had the easiest job in this situation, I was not ready for the uncertainty. She was most definitely done being pregnant. Every day seemed to be the day for about three weeks. Having dealt with the birth of my kids, I had no experience with pains from labor that didn’t progress anything. Throughout everything, my client kept such a positive attitude. We both stressed whether this beautiful boy would make his arrival on his due date December 24. Thankfully he remained put until after, two days before the new year. I arrived at my client house, she was worried that she had called all of us too soon. I was getting ready for bed when I got the call. I was full of excitement. I was not expecting a quick 3-hour birth. She deserved that though, for him to come quickly after making her wait. Her strength and power were just amazing. I am so grateful that I was a part of this incredible moment.
