    As the best maternity photographer in Chicago (well, according to me!), I have the incredible privilege of capturing the beauty and emotion that come with pregnancy. Maternity sessions are so special because they celebrate one of life’s most beautiful transitions—the journey to motherhood.

    This recent maternity session was particularly memorable. Not only did I have the honor of photographing a glowing mom-to-be, but I also had the chance to work in a studio setting. This was a fun change for me. Typically, I shoot outdoors or in the comfort of clients’ homes. However, this session in the studio gave us a beautiful, controlled environment. Consequently, we were able to focus entirely on creating timeless, elegant maternity portraits.

    Why I Love Being a Maternity Photographer in Chicago

    To be the best maternity photographer in Chicago, one must know that each session is unique. For example, this specific session was full of deeply personal moments. The mom-to-be wore her late mother’s vintage nightgown. This was a touching tribute that added so much emotional depth to the photos.

    Furthermore, her husband joined us for a few portraits. It was clear how deeply they loved and supported each other. The connection between them was palpable; therefore, I felt incredibly lucky to capture those intimate moments. As a photographer, there is nothing quite like seeing that kind of love. In fact, it is exactly what makes my work so rewarding.

    Looking Ahead

    I couldn’t wait to photograph their baby, and I will be adding that blog post soon. Knowing that I’ve captured the love and anticipation leading up to their little one’s arrival makes this session even more special. Being a photographer in Chicago means I get to document these precious moments for families. Ultimately, I couldn’t be more grateful for that opportunity.     There is a unique magic to capturing the anticipation of motherhood within your own walls. Recently, I had the joy of creating that magic for Erin. Because we chose her living space for the session, the setting was both serene and intimate. Consequently, this allowed her natural beauty to shine through. The comfort of her own home truly allowed her to relax. Therefore, we were able to capture genuine and heartfelt images.     Honestly, Erin’s family was the best! It was not about perfectly posed shots at all. Instead, it was all about capturing those genuine, in-between moments. Her partner was very present. Furthermore, you could feel the real love and excitement in every room. They truly made my job as a North Riverside maternity photographer easy.

    Also, we have to mention the pups! Surprisingly, they were total naturals. They just wandered in and out, thereby adding an adorable, unscripted element to the day. Because we let things unfold naturally, we captured the real laughter and warmth of their home. Ultimately, it was not about creating a picture-perfect scene. Rather, it was about capturing the true, candid essence of their family. You could just feel the love filling the room. In the end, that is what made the photos so incredibly special.”

    We took a quick trip in the heat to a favorite local spot. Specifically, I want to highlight Sarah’s perfect styling for this session. Although summer heat is tough, she made it look effortless. She looked beautiful in her gown. Consequently, the neutral tones kept the focus on the family connection.

    The big brothers were such good sports. They walked through the tall grass and greenery. Because this location is diverse, we got many different looks. In addition, the boys are very excited to meet their new sibling. The gender reveal at birth will be worth the wait.

    We spent time playing in the field to get candid smiles. Specifically, I love the moments where the kids just explored nature. These unposed shots often become the family favorites. Furthermore, the golden hour sun provided a perfect backdrop for these memories.

    As a Chicago maternity photographer, the drive to the west suburbs is worth its 10000%. The big brothers were such good sports as we walked through the tall grass and greenery. Because this location offers such a diverse landscape, we were able to get a variety of looks in a short amount of time. In addition, the boys are very excited to meet their new sibling! I am personally so excited to see the surprise of the gender reveal at birth—it will be well worth the wait.
