    Planning a family session at the Montrose Bird Point Sanctuary is one of my favorite ways to spend a morning in Chicago. Sometimes kiddos aren’t as warm to me as quickly as their parents would want, and that’s okay. Specifically, this little kiddo was a bit apprehensive at the start of our shoot. Because the camera can be intimidating, I always focus on making the session feel like a walk in the park. Consequently, I often hear parents ask, ‘what do I do with my hands?’ To that question, the answer is always to hold someone you love

    In fact, I love to photograph connection and movement. For this reason, the Montrose Bird Point Sanctuary is one of my favorite locations in Chicago. This beach offers so much space for kids to run and feel free. Therefore, it helps them feel much more at ease than a traditional studio setting.

    The Montrose Bird Point Sanctuary is truly a beautiful location! Additionally, if you want a mix of wild texture and the city skyline, it is perfect. Because it allows kids to explore the paths, it makes for a very relaxed family session. This family was so kind and sweet throughout the entire morning.

    Working with repeat customers as an Lakeview Chicago newborn photography is incredibly special. I love seeing little siblings join these beautiful families. Specifically, I get to see how older siblings are changing while celebrating parents’ new milestones. Families are always evolving with time. Consequently, photographs serve as a beautiful reminder of those new days of discovery.

    We structured this session around giving big sister a break. She joined the session late after I got all of the newborn images I love to achieve. Furthermore, Little Miss Reese had grown so much since I last saw her. I was so grateful for the lovely weather. In fact, with the flowers blooming, the setting was perfect for an outdoor newborn photographer Chicago.

    The Beauty of Lakeview Chicago Newborn Photography

    Additionally, an outdoor session offers a unique backdrop. Lakeview was so many beautiful outdoor places. Doing this Lakeview Chicago newborn photography session near the Diversey Natural area was so easy to reach and perfect for working with families. Because we were in a forest setting, the light was very soft and natural. Instead of a studio, the family chose the beauty of nature. Overall, the session was a big success. If you are looking for something different, an outdoor shoot is a wonderful option. Therefore, I always encourage families to consider the local parks.

    Moreover, I find that the natural environment helps older children relax. Since they have room to run, they don’t feel pressured. As a result, we get more candid and joyful images. Whether it is a summer morning or a golden hour evening, the results are stunning. Meanwhile, we made sure to keep the baby comfortable and safe.

    One of my favorite images from this session shows the sisters hugging. They simply allowed the chaos to unfold. When it comes to extended family shoots, this was a joyful one to capture. Even with multiple toddlers and babies, the session felt effortless. Therefore, this cousin photoshoot at the conservatory was a total success.

    Their faces always show a mix of awe, curiosity, and concern. This is especially true after I mention home birth. However, it fills me with great joy to do such a unique job.     At Home with the Chelebek Family

    Choosing an at home family photographer in Evanston means letting go of perfection. Often, we feel pressure to present a curated version of our lives. However, there is so much beauty in the unscripted moments. This early morning session reminded me that the best memories aren’t planned. Instead, they simply happen in the quiet corners of our own homes.

    Life is beautiful chaos. Consequently, I choose to embrace it in my work. These sessions are for families who want to remember the “right now.” For instance, we didn’t worry about tidy rooms during this shoot. We spent the morning in a treehouse. We sang until everyone was breathless with laughter. As a result, the photos feel honest.

    Furthermore, I’ve realized that kids are most themselves in their own element. In addition to their own toys, they have the freedom to just be. Specifically, I loved capturing the raw connection between these two sisters. Ultimately, the goal isn’t a perfect pose.     Winter is the calm after the busy Fall season. It goes by rather quickly. I’m so grateful for that calmness but I like being in the thick of my client work the most. This year however I decided to embrace some personal work a little more for these restless days. The challenge was quite simple ; capture yourself, one image a day for the month of February. I’ve never done anything like this. To be honest I do care about how I’m perceived, I think anyone who says otherwise is just lying to themselves. & honestly this is just screaming I love myself a little too much, for a moment It took on a negative feeling. But when that settled I thought of all of those days when I didn’t love myself, and how l behaved in the moments I lacked self love.

    For the first time in my life I truly + completely love every . single. part. of my being. I am intentionally working on not using words like good or bad to describe myself, but what I will say is that anything that I was lacking before is so full to the brim now. Self Portraiture has always been a gift to the artist. These are a gift to me and my children, I know one day not terribly close but in the near future I’ll look different. I’ll feel different. My hope is that my new found compassion for myself only grows.

    Today in the middle of my 32nd birth year I am heartbroken, growing, expanding, learning and practicing what I preach. I am a multitude of feelings, I am things I can’t describe yet. Words I can’t find. These images have truly shown me that when I decide to show up for myself great things can happen. While these images may seem ordinary to most there are big connections to parts of me I have or I am in the process of grieving.

    I won’t lie. This has been so hard. I selected the coldest month to do this project, because clearly I don’t think things through enough lol. I just jump right in. That’s me. So I’m desperately thinking of new ways to use my tiny space. Not to mention new ways to see myself. I’m deeply proud of how I’ve stuck with it and I’m now more than half way through this project. It’s so so cool. I have always been the type to lean into the discomfort. & this, the capturing myself daily has been uncomfortable as hell.

    I try to close my eyes pop on some Carla Morrison and let inspiration take me where it wants to. I have also let my mind wander, my smiles are genuine, thoughts of my children and other people I love run across my mind and I can’t help but smile and send them light and love always. They often worry about the timing and the chaos. However, an in-home session is actually much easier for twins. For example, you do not have to pack a heavy diaper bag. In addition, you do not have to travel across Chicago with two car seats.

    Styling Your Newborn Twin Session in Roselle

    For Noor and Ayad’s session, Mom chose a minimal look. Specifically, I love how she used deep, beautiful colors for the final images. These jewel-toned blankets looked stunning against the neutral nursery. Therefore, it added a wonderful pop of personality to the entire gallery.

    When you are planning your own session, think about textures. For instance, knits and soft cottons photograph beautifully. You do not need fancy props to make an impact. Instead, a simple family heirloom is often all you need. These small details help tell the story of your family’s first days together.
