A Sun-Filled Morning | Chicago Newborn Session in Streeterville

There’s something about a cold Chicago morning when the sun actually shows up. Light pours through floor-to-ceiling condo windows, there’s no agenda, and nowhere to be. That’s exactly what we had for this Streeterville newborn session and honestly, as a Chicago newborn photographer, I’m still thinking about it. That kind of light makes everything feel softer, which is exactly what a brand new family deserves.

Close-up of a baby's face, featuring large blue eyes and a slight smile.

Their First Baby, Their First Days

This was their first, and everything that comes with that showed up right there in the room. Mom held him so carefully. Dad’s hand found her back at the crib without even thinking about it. Those aren’t posed moments — they just happen naturally, and my job is to stay quiet enough to catch them.

Baby was wide-eyed and alert for most of our time together. Those blue eyes, that little red hair peeking out from his white knit bonnet I could have photographed his face for hours. Meanwhile, mom was radiant in the most beautiful navy dress, glowing against all that creamy window light. She was exhausted and stunning and so present. I truly hope she sees herself the way I saw her through my lens.

Why In-Home Newborn Photography in Chicago Just Works

One of my favorite things about in-home newborn photography in Chicago is that your home tells the story too. The nursery, the wooden crib, the gallery wall frames you hung before you even knew his face all of it ends up in the gallery, and all of it matters. Beyond that, you don’t have to pack a bag, load a carseat, or stress about timing. We simply meet you where you already are.

Streeterville condos are made for this kind of session. Specifically, those high floors, big windows, and gorgeous diffused lakefront light do half my job for me. If you’ve been searching for a Chicago newborn photographer in Streeterville, this is exactly the kind of session I offer unhurried, in your home, in your light. Streeterville, one of Chicago’s most iconic lakefront neighborhoods, has some of the most beautiful natural light I’ve ever photographed in. If you’ve been searching for a Chicago newborn photographer in Streeterville, this is exactly the kind of session I offer in your home, in your light.

I photograph newborns throughout Chicago and the surrounding suburbs Streeterville, Lincoln Park, River North, the West Loop, Wicker Park, and beyond. Sessions are relaxed, unhurried, and completely judgment-free. No posing, no props you didn’t ask for, just your family exactly as you are right now. I loved how these Chicago Newborn Photographs turned out.

Garfield Park Conservatory engagement | Romantic Chicago Session

Are you planning a Garfield Park Conservatory engagement? Even though the Chicago wind was cold, Lauren and Aaron were full of warmth. We stepped into the tropical rooms. It felt like entering a different world. In fact, their Garfield Park Conservatory engagement reminded me why I love my job.

Stunning Chicago Engagement Photos in the Fern Room

The green leaves of the Fern Room were a perfect backdrop for these Chicago engagement photos. However, their smiles were the best part of the day. We walked through the glass houses together. I loved capturing their joy in every room. For instance, we stayed in the Desert House for a long time. The light there was soft and pretty. Consequently, the photos look like a dream.

Why a Garfield Park Conservatory Engagement is a Smart Choice

Chicago weather is hard to predict. Therefore, an indoor spot like the Conservatory is a smart choice for your session. You get to see nature without the cold wind. Additionally, the different rooms offer many styles. Because of this, your gallery will have a lot of variety. Lauren and Aaron were so relaxed. Indeed, their love made my work feel easy.

Planning Your Garfield Park Conservatory Session

Keep a few things in mind for your own portraits. First, check the rules for permits before you go. Second, try to pick a weekday. This helps you avoid big crowds. Furthermore, think about what you wear. Neutral colors look great against the green plants. Ultimately, the goal is to have fun and be yourselves!

    Finishing Your Day in Chicago

After your session, you are in a great part of the city. There are many local spots to grab a coffee or a drink. This is a great way to celebrate after finishing your Chicago engagement photos. Taking the time to relax together makes the whole experience feel like a date. I always tell my couples to enjoy the moment. In conclusion, your engagement is a special time that deserves to be remembered forever.

Tips for Your Garfield Park Conservatory Engagement Photos

    1. Permits: Always check the current permit requirements for professional photography at the Conservatory. It’s best to book your time slot in advance to ensure your session goes smoothly.
    2. Timing: The Conservatory is a popular Chicago landmark. Scheduling your session on a weekday morning can help us avoid the largest crowds.
    3. Outfits: Since the Conservatory features lush greens and desert tones, neutral colors or soft pastels look incredible. Consider a dress with some movement to capture the romantic energy of the space.
    4. Explore the Rooms: Don’t just stay in one spot! From the humid Fern Room to the arid Desert House, each room offers a completely different vibe for your portraits.

Evanston In-Home Newborn Photography | Lifestyle Session

I am excited to share a recent session Evanston In-Home Newborn Photography session. This was one of the sweetest experiences I have had the pleasure of capturing lately. Specifically, we focused on real life and gorgeous natural light. We ignored stiff poses and forced smiles to focus on genuine connection. Additionally, a super cool family cat almost stole the show. The dynamic between the brand-new baby and her energetic toddler brother was truly magical.

Newborn Photography Evanston IL: Natural Light Sessions

You know those days where the light just seems to know what it’s doing? Indeed, this was one of those perfect days. I walked into their lovely home and was practically swooning. Sunlight was absolutely pouring through the windows. As a result, it created dreamy, golden pockets of warmth. In fact, these moments remind me why I adore my job. I love working with such beautiful light in a space filled with love.

    Authentic Lifestyle Newborn

Now, let’s talk about the stars of the show! First, we have the tiniest little peanut. This brand-new baby girl was the epitome of newborn sweetness. For example, her soft sighs and sleepy stretches were incredibly precious. Capturing those first few weeks of life is a major honor. Moreover, doing it right there in their cozy home makes it even better. Essentially, that is where the real magic of professional lifestyle photography happens.

    Capturing Family Connections in Evanston

The gorgeous Evanston light added a warm, inviting feel to every photo. Furthermore, it highlighted the deep connection between this beautiful family. The whole session felt relaxed and joyful. So, I captured a little slice of their everyday magic. It was a day filled with baby snores and toddler giggles. In short, I left feeling incredibly grateful to be a part of their story.

    Preserving Your Special Memories

Besides the baby, the big brother played a huge role. He was so proud to show off his new sister. Similarly, the parents relax because they were in their own environment. Ultimately, my goal is to offer images that feel like home. A Soulful Chicago First Birthday Photoshoot

This session was a beautiful way to celebrate baby N’s big one-year milestone. As a Chicago first birthday photoshoot specialist, I love documenting how much a child grows in just twelve months. Furthermore, this specific session felt incredibly personal to me. I originally saw this sweet baby enter the world as her birth photographer. Being a witness to her first breath and now her first birthday is quite an experience.

Effortless Portraits for the One-Year Milestone

Many parents worry that a Chicago first birthday photoshoot will feel rigid or stuffy. However, I prefer a documentary approach that allows for movement and play. We brought a simple one-year balloon, but the focus remained on the family’s deep connection. For example, we captured mom spinning the baby and dad nuzzling her close. These small, honest moments are much more meaningful than a traditional “cake smash” because they show who your child truly is.

Choosing the Best Location for Your Gallery

Finding the perfect backdrop for your Chicago first birthday photoshoot is key. This specific location offered a stunning sky that added depth to every frame. Even when the weather is less than perfect, the love between a family shines through. If you are looking for a photographer who values connection over props, I would love to tell your story.

Investing in Your Chicago Family Legacy

Usually, families book these milestone sessions a few months in advance. This ensures we can secure the perfect date near your child’s actual birthday. Since I am well-versed in the unique lighting of the city’s parks and urban spaces, your photos will look timeless. I love following my clients as their stories grow over time. If you’re ready to document this big transition, let’s chat about your vision.

Roseland Chicago newborn photography | In-Home Lifestyle

There is something profoundly special about a Roseland Chicago newborn photography session. When you welcome a new life into your family, your home becomes a sanctuary of love and soft light. Recently, I was blessed with beautiful light and two gorgeous boys for an intimate session that quickly became a new favorite.

    .

    Why Families Love Lifestyle Sessions

Choosing a lifestyle session over a studio has many advantages for new parents. First, staying in your own environment allows you to relax. In fact, you don’t have to worry about packing a diaper bag and traveling across the city. Instead, I come to you, capturing your family in the space where you feel most comfortable.

Furthermore, your home provides a backdrop that is entirely unique to your story. Specifically, we can utilize the nursery you spent months preparing. Consequently, these images become a sentimental time capsule of your baby’s very first days..

What to Expect During Your Rosaland Chicago Newborn photography In-Home Session

When you book your Roseland chicago newborn photography session, the experience is designed to be slow and intentional. First, we start by finding the best natural light in your home, usually in the master bedroom or the nursery. Then, we let the baby set the pace. If they need to nurse or be changed, we simply pause the session.

Because these moments are child-led, there is never any pressure to perform. Instead, I focus on the quiet connection between you and your little ones. By following this gentle rhythm, we capture authentic smiles and tiny details. Ultimately, my goal is to document the raw beauty of your family.

Tips for Styling Your Newborn Portraits

Preparation is a key part of the process. When considering what to wear, think of soft textures and neutral colors. For instance, creams, soft grays, and muted earth tones photograph beautifully indoors. Most importantly, choose fabrics that feel good against your skin, as there will be lots of snuggling with your little one! In the end, these photos will serve as a beautiful reminder of your family’s new beginning.

Indiana Dunes Maternity Session | Early Morning Portraits

A Soulful Indiana Dunes Maternity Session

This Indiana Dunes maternity session was a beautiful, sun-drenched experience. We originally scheduled this shoot for a different day, but we had to reschedule due to dreary weather. My client had a specific vision for her gallery. She wanted her body and their love captured in a way that felt bright and intentional. Therefore, we met on this beautiful sunny morning, and the results were stunning.

Capturing Light and Shadows at the Beach

J, looked radiant throughout the morning. She was so excited about her Indiana Dunes maternity session, and the water suited her perfectly. She floated at the top of the lake, her full belly looking peaceful under the sun. Furthermore, her partner was super protective and happy to go with the flow. This shoot allowed me to slow down and search for beautiful ways to capture the shadows and light my client longed to see.

Why Choose the Indiana Dunes for Maternity Portraits?

The beach offers a unique backdrop for documentary-style photography. Specifically, the tall grass and the rocks provide texture that you can’t find in a studio. Although we had to deal with the shifting morning light, it was a great reminder that creativity is special. By focusing on raw connection during this Indiana Dunes maternity session, we created a gallery that tells a story of anticipation and deep love.

There is nothing quite as special as a Streeterville Chicago Newborn Photography session. Specifically, capturing those first few days in your own space is truly unparalleled. Because you are in your own home, your growing family can feel relaxed and comfortable during this transition.

What to Expect During Your Session

During the session, I will guide you through gentle poses. However, the best shots often happen during the quiet, unscripted moments. For example, a mother nursing or a father rocking his child creates a stunning memory.

Finally, my goal is to make this process stress-free. Since babies have their own schedules, we leave plenty of time for feedings and cuddles. How to Prepare for Your In-Home Newborn Photography Chicago Session

Additionally, preparing your home is much simpler than you might think. First, I recommend turning up the heat slightly about thirty minutes before I arrive. Since newborns are often photographed in thin wraps, a warm room keeps them sleepy and comfortable. Next, try to clear any clutter from the bedside tables or nursery surfaces. Because we want the focus to remain on your connection, a clean space helps the lifestyle aesthetic shine. By following these small steps, your Streeterville Chicago Newborn Photography experience will be seamless and stress-free. As a Chicago Newborn Photographer, Streeterville is just a beautiful location.

A Heartfelt Goodbye: Northerly Island Family Session

Planning a Northerly Island family session is the perfect way to capture the essence of Chicago, especially for families preparing for a big move. I may be slightly biased, but families that invite me into their births are the most special to me. That level of trust is truly unparalleled. I was lucky enough to be there for the birth of their little miss. Specifically, I witnessed Lacy be incredibly strong and saw the deep devotion from her husband and birth partner. It was an honor to document such an intimate moment. I photographed this family a few times I want to share their birth session which changed me as an artist.

A woman in a green dress walking towards a young child in brown overalls, inside a large open structure with metal beams and a city skyline in the background on a sunny day.

When she reached out for this Northerly Island family session, I genuinely felt a bit sad. However, I am so happy for them! They are expanding their community and moving closer to family. I wish them all the luck in the world in their new chapter. Thankfully, Instagram allows us to stay in touch so I can see those babies grow up from afar.

Capturing Chicago Memories by the Lake

We decided to choose the city as our backdrop for these “goodbye” portraits. For instance, a Northerly Island family session offers the perfect mix of skyline views and natural lakefront beauty. Chicago is the city that has seen their babies grow up until now. Consequently, it felt right to document their final days here against the skyline they love as a Chicago Family Photographer .

In addition to the sentimental value, the lighting at Northerly Island is always a photographer’s dream. The wide-open space allows the golden hour to hit just right. Furthermore, the kids had a blast exploring the paths and the big rocks along the shore. I hope it is not “goodbye” forever, but rather a “see you later.”

River Forest Family Photos | Adri De La Cruz

I can’t believe we’re here, so close to December and just about to celebrate Thanksgiving. As I prepare for our upcoming River Forest family photos, I’ve been reflecting on how things are looking different in the future for us. Perhaps this is too heavy and personal for my photography page, or perhaps it’s just what my clients need from me.

A family portrait featuring a smiling father with two children, one boy and one girl, in a cozy indoor setting with bookshelves and greenery in the background. River Forest family photos at home with chalk wall

To see me is to go a little deeper into who I am. I want you to see the person behind the lens. Specifically, I capture the beauty of family because it is my passion. My own family is also my passion. If I am to live my one wild and precious life the way I want, then I guess I’ll have to be judged.

I am so grateful for my soon-to-be ex-husband who agreed to do this for me. In actuality, I know he knows it’s for them. While we may not have always modeled an incredible marriage, we will ensure they see unconditional love and friendship moving forward.

Black and white image of three children posing together with smiles, one boy in a striped sweater, a girl in a white top, and another child partially hidden behind them, with a bookshelf in the background. River Forest family photos at home with chalk wall

As I climbed out of the tub and shook my hair dry, I told myself: Maybe in a different life.

    Isn’t that interesting?

As if I had more than one.

    -Untamed

Reflecting on a Decade of Motherhood

My twenties started with having a baby boy and launching my business. During that time, I absorbed everything I could. In the last decade, I have also launched photographer communities and workshops across the United States. I taught others to find their voice and even dabbled in having my own magazine.

However, all of that would mean nothing without them. I was 21 when my son was born, shy of 22 by mere days. What an incredible journey it has been!

    Beginning the Next Chapter

A young girl twirling in a shiny, sequined skirt with her hair flying around, set in a warm, inviting room with wooden floors and leafy decor. River Forest family photos at home with chalk wall

I am 31 now. The best part of getting older is realizing that you actually know nothing. Such a humbling thing to acknowledge! Within this nothingness, I will begin my next decade. I hope I can sit here at 41 still admiring all of the greatness that has come.

Therefore, I refuse to focus on the “what-could-have-been.” I hope I am forever a glass-half-full kind of girl, no matter what comes next.

A boy and girl are hugging each other, both smiling. The boy is wearing a striped sweater in yellow and black, while the girl is wearing a white top and a sparkling skirt. They are seen in a cozy indoor setting with green plants in the background.

The Story Behind These River Forest Family Photos

About this session: I will forever love our chalk wall. While I probably can’t recreate this in my new rental, we have drawn and played a multitude of fun games on it. Specifically, I’ve been surprised by love notes from my children written there. I have also seen some incredible art skills displayed on this wall. I don’t want to take all the credit, but maybe that is a little of me rubbing off on them!

In reality, we know all children are great artists. I am only happy mine constantly choose to share their work with me so often.

Two children sitting on a wooden swing, with one boy wearing a striped sweater and a girl in a sparkling dress, both smiling and enjoying the moment, against a backdrop of a brick wall and a tree.

Location Scouting for River Forest Family Photos

Initially, I wanted to use the chalk wall as a backdrop for a few portraits then head out to find something different. I have driven past a specific green wall many times, always hopeful to have a session there at some point. Although some people struggle to see beauty in an “ugly” green wall, that is why there are people like me.

As a Chicago Family Photographer & mom I understand that the point of a session is not the background, but the love and fun represented in front of it. From a chalk wall to a green wall, I love how these images taken under a pathway in  River Forest with my family came out. My sister even helped me take the group ones! I didn’t trust a tripod in the middle of a street with winds and cars flowing by.

Ultimately, I hope we can make this happen every year until my kiddos finally say no. I hope you all have an amazing bunch of holidays!
