Fresh 48 Prentice Hospital | Chicago Newborn

I love a Fresh 48 Prentice Hospital session. For those not ready for birth photography, this is perfect. Specifically, having a photoshoot with your new baby is a great experience. I adore babies’ tiny mannerisms fresh out of the womb. Consequently, I want to capture that for every family!

In fact, one of my favorite images is the baby discovering the world. For example, seeing a tiny hand over a face is so sweet. Furthermore, we used grandpa’s hat in these photos. Therefore, the session felt very personal and special. These newborn photos capture family connection when it is most raw and beautiful

That hat btw was baby’s grandpas.

Moreover, I find that the hospital setting adds a unique layer of storytelling to your gallery. Since these first hours pass by in a blur, having professional photos helps you hold onto the details. Whether it is the hospital bracelets or the tiny blankets, everything matters. As a result, you will have these images forever.

Chicago hospital birth photographer | Gabriel’s Birth Story

No matter where you choose to birth your sweet little being, I am always honored to be a part of the team. Being a Chicago hospital birth photographer is a magical experience. You get to witness so much strength and transformation in one room. Specifically, Sophia had a very laid-back active labor. She did so well throughout the process.

First-time moms can be unpredictable. Consequently, you have to surrender and accept that many things are out of your control. I feel like Sophia rode the wave of acceptance beautifully. I was there to capture every image of her and her husband. Furthermore, her maternity images were very special to shoot. Being a Chicago hospital birth photographerin a medical setting is different than being at home.

Capturing Strength with a Chicago hospital birth photographer

Additionally, the challenge at the hospital is maintaining a level of vulnerability. We must work within a more controlled landscape. In fact, lighting can actually be better in the hospital because they require visibility at all times. Overall, I have had the best experiences with hospital staff. This hospital was no different. Therefore, the environment felt very supportive for the family.

Moreover, I love the unique energy of a hospital arrival. Since every birth is different, I am always ready for anything. As a result, we captured the raw emotions of Gabriel coming into the world. Whether it is the quiet moments of labor or the first breath, the magic is undeniable. Instead of a quiet house, the hospital buzzes with a different kind of excitement.

In conclusion, I enjoy every minute of my work. Whether it is a home birth or a hospital birth, the story is what matters. So, I am glad I could document Gabriel’s first moments. Lastly, thank you for following my journey. If you need a Chicago hospital birth photographer, please reach out! Thank you for supporting my art and my business.”

As a Chicago birth story photographer, I believe that birth is a peak human experience. I recently documented the Davison family as they welcomed their daughter at Prentice Women’s Hospital. Every birth I attend leaves me with a new sense of strength and joy. Consequently, seeing a birthing human relish in their own power is absolutely incredible.

The Strength of Labor at Prentice Hospital

Birth is always a team effort. This beautiful couple worked together with a lovely goal in mind. Specifically, they were ready to meet sweet little Miss A. The funny thing about birth is how unpredictable it can be. For this experience, everything seemed to happen very quickly. However, the pushing phase was a prolonged state for this mama. Furthermore, her absolute grace shone brightly throughout the entire process. As a Chicago birth story photographer, I am constantly amazed by the resilience of women.

Almost the Same Birthday: An Oak Park Birth Story

I am in awe of this incredible mama. She showed such grace and strength during this session for Oak Park birth photography. This sweet baby decided to make her appearance while I was away in Denver. On my last day of vacation, mama texted me that her water had broken. It was 10 pm, and I had a 5 am flight back to Chicago. I felt so excited for her but nervous that I would not make it in time.

The Reality of Oak Park Birth Photography

Fortunately, things slowed down and I made it home. I had woken up at 3 am to make my flight and hadn’t slept at all due to the chaos of traveling. Around 7 pm, I headed over to join the birth team. I watched as she worked through her surges.

During the night, her amazing team noticed a change. The head midwife joined the birth and assessed the situation. They determined the baby was facing the incorrect way. As a “fly on the wall” photographer, I don’t ask questions, so the details are a bit fuzzy, but I remember hearing the words “face presentation.”

Strength Through a Changing Birth Story

Her doula tried several incredible ways to change the presentation manually. Eventually, the team made the call to head to the hospital for a C-section. You could feel the real disappointment and sadness for this mama. She had worked so incredibly hard, but the reality had changed.

This was my first C-section experience. We drove towards West suburban Hospital. While I wish I could have captured the baby’s arrival, I still saw those first moments as she became a mama for the second time. What an honor to be part of this story. This is why I love Oak Park birth photography. It is all magical. C-section mamas, your story matters. As a Chicago Birth Photographer it is my opinion that your birth is just as beautiful.as she became the mama she was meant to be for a second time.

3 Month Baby Photographer Chicago | Baby Alex

If you’ve been told that a 3 month baby photographer Chicago session isn’t worth it because babies can’t sit up yet I’m here to change your mind. Baby Alex is living proof that three months is one of the most magical ages to photograph.

I first met Alex at his birth, where he made a very vocal entrance into the world at a downtown Chicago hospital. Seeing him again at three months, I couldn’t believe how alert and present he had become. His eyes were wide open, taking everything in. He was smiling, cooing, and just radiating that brand new human energy that goes by way too fast.I made it, I finally got to see this beautiful boy again.

Why Chicago Parents Love 3 Month Baby Sessions

A lot of photographers skip this age because babies aren’t doing “tricks” yet — no sitting, no crawling, no walking. But that’s exactly the point. At three months your baby still needs you completely. They curl into your chest, they lock eyes with you, they smile that gummy smile that stops your heart. That’s everything.

As a Chicago family photographer who specializes in documentary-style sessions, I’m not looking for posed moments anyway. I’m looking for the real ones — and three months delivers in spades.

If you’re pregnant or just had your baby and you’re thinking about a newborn session, consider adding a 3 month follow-up. You’ll be so glad you did.

    3 month baby photographer Chicago

Whether you’re in the city or the west suburbs, booking a 3 month baby photographer Chicago families trust means getting images that capture this fleeting stage before it’s gone. Babies change so fast — what feels like yesterday becomes a blur. These sessions exist to slow that down, even just for an afternoon.

According to the American Academy of Pediatrics, the 3 month mark is a major developmental milestone — making it the perfect time to document.

Downtown Chicago Birth Story | Evangelista-The Adri Photo Co.

“My mother groaned, my father wept, / into the dangerous world I leapt.” William Blake. The power of women never ceases to amaze me. I especially feel this when documenting a downtown Chicago birth as intense as this one. This session was the longest in my portfolio. It was full of beautiful drama and a baby boy who truly made an entrance.

mother birthing at home Emotional documentary photography of a downtown Chicago birth.

The Setting: A Downtown Hospital Story

There is a specific energy that comes with a Chicago birth. Outside the hospital windows, the city continues its frantic pace—sirens, traffic, and the hum of the Loop. But inside the labor and delivery suite, time seems to stand still. I watched as the light shifted over the skyscrapers, casting long shadows across the room while this mama worked through each surge. Capturing a birth as a Chicago birth photographer allows me to juxtapose the massive scale of the city with the intimate, quiet strength of a woman bringing life into the world.

    The Emotion: Strength and Surrender

She had a plan, and she fulfilled it with such grace. As a photographer, I am often struck by the moment of “the shift”—when the room goes from intense focus to an overwhelming wave of relief. This downtown Chicago birth ended with tears of joy that felt like a huge wave of love washing over everyone present. Every hour of that long journey was worth it the moment he arrived. It was a reminder of why I love documentary birth photography; these are the stories that deserve to be told exactly as they happened.

    Planning Your Downtown Chicago Birth

Preparing for a downtown Chicago birth often involves a lot of logistics, but the photography shouldn’t be one of them. Whether you are delivering at Prentice, Rush, or University of Chicago, my goal is to remain a “fly on the wall,” documenting the strength and quiet moments that often go unnoticed in the whirlwind of labor. This session took place at Prentice Women’s Hospital, one of my favorite spots for a Chicago birth photographer story because of the incredible natural light.”
