As a Garfield Park family photographer, I love how the light transforms this Chicago gem. Even though we had a very rainy October, we finally caught a break. Fortunately, the stars aligned for a spectacular golden hour session.
First, we explored the area near the water. Because the trees were at their peak, the colors were breathtaking. This sweet family was a joy to work with. In fact, their little boy was all smiles despite the crisp autumn air.
Why I Love Being a Garfield Park Family Photographer
Additionally, Garfield Park offers a lot of variety for parents. While the conservatory is famous, the outdoor gardens are equally stunning. As a result, kids have plenty of space to run and play. Typically, this leads to more natural and candid photos.
Furthermore, the late afternoon sun creates a warm glow near the lagoon. If you are looking for a family photographer, I recommend booking in late October. This is because the foliage provides a perfect, rustic backdrop.
If you are looking for your own Garfield Park family photographer, remember that the best photos happen when you let go of perfection. This family did an amazing job just playing with their son and enjoying the crisp Chicago air. The result was a gallery full of warmth, laughter, and beautiful fall memories.
A Glowing Session with a Brookfield WI Maternity Photographer
Finding the perfect light is a dream for any Brookfield WI maternity photographer. Specifically, the golden hour at Mitchell Park provided the most incredible, ethereal glow for the Davison family. I have been so eager to share these images! Admittedly, I’ve been busy soaking up life, but this session was too beautiful to keep hidden any longer.
I had the joy of documenting the Davison family earlier this season. In fact, it was such an honor to be invited into their story as they prepare to welcome a new soul. Initially, the kids were a bit shy when we stepped out into the field. However, they quickly warmed up to the camera. Consequently, some of my favorite images are the candid moments of them simply being themselves in the tall grass.
Why I Love Being a Brookfield WI Maternity Photographer
Furthermore, Mitchell Park offers a diverse range of backdrops that every Brookfield WI maternity photographerappreciates. From the rustic wooden fences to the wide-open, sun-drenched fields, it never disappoints. Additionally, the connection between this mom and dad was so evident. Having spent time with them, I could see they are truly connected. He was present and supportive every step of the way, which makes my job as a Brookfield WI maternity photographerso much more meaningful.
Moreover, I love when older siblings are part of the journey. It is a beautiful reminder of what is possible. To be clear, women and birthing humans are hella strong—no “ifs,” “ands,” or “buts” about it. Ultimately, seeing a mother trust her body and lean into the process is a gift to witness. As a Chicago Maternity Photographer, I love traveling, I am always available to meet you in Wis.
The Importance of Professional Maternity Portraits
Many families wonder if professional photos are necessary during pregnancy. In truth, the reason is simple: this season is fleeting. While you might feel tired or “un-photogenic” in the third trimester, a professional Brookfield WI maternity photographer knows how to highlight your radiance. For example, we use posing and light to ensure you look as goddess-like as you feel.
As a result, you receive a gallery that serves as a permanent anchor for your memories. Therefore, you can look back years from now and remember exactly how it felt to carry your child. Basically, these photos are for your children just as much as they are for you. In conclusion, I am so grateful to the Davisons for trusting me as their Brookfield WI maternity photographer
“I recently had the pleasure of capturing the Camblin family for their Wilder Mansion family photos in Elmhurst,Illinois. This historic venue provided a perfect backdrop. Specifically, the surrounding Wilder Park gardens looked beautiful for their session. As a Chicago Family photographer, I always enjoy returning to this classic white mansion locations in Elmhurst IL are so unique and beautiful.
First, this location is a top choice because it offers a mix of architecture and nature. The historic white mansion feels very sophisticated. Meanwhile, the surrounding gardens of Wilder Park provide a soft, organic look.
For the Camblin family, we focused on the natural light. This ‘golden hour’ light is the best time for outdoor sessions. Therefore, I suggest coordinating your outfits with the venue’s aesthetic. Neutral tones always pop beautifully against the green landscapes. Furthermore, you can view the official Wilder Mansion website to see more of the interior and history.
Why I Love These Wilder Mansion Family Photos
Whether you want a formal photo or a casual look, this location is a local gem. However, be sure to check the park district calendar first. This ensures we have full access to the grounds. Many families choose this spot because it feels timeless and elegant.
In addition to the architecture, the seasonal flowers in the gardens are incredible. During the spring and summer, the blooms add a pop of color that makes every portrait stand out. If you prefer a fall look, the mature trees on the property turn vibrant shades of orange and gold.

I can’t believe we’re here, so close to December and just about to celebrate Thanksgiving. As I prepare for our upcoming River Forest family photos, I’ve been reflecting on how things are looking different in the future for us. Perhaps this is too heavy and personal for my photography page, or perhaps it’s just what my clients need from me.
To see me is to go a little deeper into who I am. I want you to see the person behind the lens. Specifically, I capture the beauty of family because it is my passion. My own family is also my passion. If I am to live my one wild and precious life the way I want, then I guess I’ll have to be judged.
I am so grateful for my soon-to-be ex-husband who agreed to do this for me. In actuality, I know he knows it’s for them. While we may not have always modeled an incredible marriage, we will ensure they see unconditional love and friendship moving forward.
As I climbed out of the tub and shook my hair dry, I told myself: Maybe in a different life.
Isn’t that interesting?
As if I had more than one.

Reflecting on a Decade of Motherhood
My twenties started with having a baby boy and launching my business. During that time, I absorbed everything I could. In the last decade, I have also launched photographer communities and workshops across the United States. I taught others to find their voice and even dabbled in having my own magazine.
However, all of that would mean nothing without them. I was 21 when my son was born, shy of 22 by mere days. What an incredible journey it has been!
Beginning the Next Chapter
I am 31 now. The best part of getting older is realizing that you actually know nothing. Such a humbling thing to acknowledge! Within this nothingness, I will begin my next decade. I hope I can sit here at 41 still admiring all of the greatness that has come.
Therefore, I refuse to focus on the “what-could-have-been.” I hope I am forever a glass-half-full kind of girl, no matter what comes next.
The Story Behind These River Forest Family Photos
About this session: I will forever love our chalk wall. While I probably can’t recreate this in my new rental, we have drawn and played a multitude of fun games on it. Specifically, I’ve been surprised by love notes from my children written there. I have also seen some incredible art skills displayed on this wall. I don’t want to take all the credit, but maybe that is a little of me rubbing off on them!
In reality, we know all children are great artists. I am only happy mine constantly choose to share their work with me so often.
Location Scouting for River Forest Family Photos
Initially, I wanted to use the chalk wall as a backdrop for a few portraits then head out to find something different. I have driven past a specific green wall many times, always hopeful to have a session there at some point. Although some people struggle to see beauty in an “ugly” green wall, that is why there are people like me.
As a Chicago Family Photographer & mom I understand that the point of a session is not the background, but the love and fun represented in front of it. From a chalk wall to a green wall, I love how these images taken under a pathway in River Forest with my family came out. My sister even helped me take the group ones! I didn’t trust a tripod in the middle of a street with winds and cars flowing by.
Ultimately, I hope we can make this happen every year until my kiddos finally say no. I hope you all have an amazing bunch of holidays!
I have always loved scouting locations near the River Forest Park District because even the most unconventional spots, like this green wall, can hold so much character.
The absolute most kind of people also happen to be the most beautiful. Sometimes I travel a bit outside of my area to lovely places like for Homer Glen Family Photos. We did the math during their session and I have been photographing their beautiful family since before little miss E was even alive. How insanely special is that?
I’ve seen two of their stunning homes and have watched the kids go through various changes. Now they’ve added an adorable pup! I always say that Matt won the wife lottery, but you can see from these images that they are all so beyond lucky to have each other. I cannot stress enough how welcoming and lovely they are. Getting to catch up and see the brand-new adventures they’ve made is so much fun.
Miss Z + E make me jealous for my own little Zoe; I know she wishes she had a sister. I myself had two, but they came almost a decade after me. It is also crazy to see just how tall Mr. A got, close to being over six feet. He will absolutely surpass his dad soon!
I have said it before and I’ll say it again: there is no such thing as a bad location. We shot these Homer Glen family photos in their front yard, around their house, and in the back. There is always some kind of magic everywhere.
Planning Your Homer Glen Family Photos at Home
Many families worry about finding a perfect park. However, this session proves that your own home can be the most meaningful backdrop. Specifically, for the Dryfhout family, we utilized the spaces where their memories are actually made.
As a Chicago family photographer if you are planning Homer Glen family photos, consider an at-home lifestyle session. It allows everyone to feel completely comfortable. Furthermore, I always enjoy finding new pockets of light in this area. You can find more information about local nature spots through the Village of Homer Glen website. If you are ready to document your family’s next adventure, I would love to connect!
As an Elk Grove Village photographer, I often look for locations that offer both variety and natural beauty. When the Anderson family reached out for their session, we immediately chose Busse Woods for its incredible landscape.
The forest preserve is a gem in the suburbs. For instance, it offers open meadows, wooded trails, and serene water views. Because of this variety, every photo feels unique. On this particular morning, the cloudy sky acted as a natural softbox. Consequently, the lighting was perfectly even, which made the Anderson family’s portraits look soft and timeless.
Why Hire an Elk Grove Village Photographer?
Many people assume that a portrait session needs to be stiff, posed, or stressful. However, the best photos often come from playing, walking, and laughing together. As a photographer, my goal is to guide you into natural moments rather than just asking you to “say cheese.” As a Chicago Family Photographer choosing a local expert means I know exactly where the light hits best at Busse Woods, ensuring your final gallery is stunning.
The age of four feels like a sweet spot. They aren’t toddlers anymore, but they still have wide-eyed curiosity. I love capturing that. I met Charlie and her mom in the city, and I remembered exactly why I love my job. As a River North family photographer, I freeze these tiny, fleeting milestones. I capture a four-year-old holding her mom’s hand. I love the way they laugh on the sidewalk.
Do you worry about the city being too busy? I understand. However, River North offers amazing energy that you cannot find anywhere else. It features classic brick backdrops, stunning river views, and industrial charm. I know the best, quietest spots to take your family. They are safe and visually beautiful. By hiring a family photographer, you ensure your gallery gets that timeless, editorial feel.
Tips for a Successful Session
Planning a session? Keep these tips in mind.
Pick a day when they are rested. Four-year-olds have strong opinions!
Bring a prop or activity. A favorite book works well. Chasing bubbles works too. This makes the photos feel like “real life.” It beats a stiff pose every time.
Check local permit rules. Always check the for the latest guidelines. This ensures we follow all local rules.
Capturing Growth Over Time
Kids grow up fast. One day they are four, and the next, they are heading to kindergarten. I believe in documenting these chapters properly. Whether we explore the urban streets or find a quiet corner, the goal is always to keep the experience stress-free.
