So we managed to see a few beautiful elk cows in the grass on this lovely morning. I love when I meet new families especially close to the holiday season. I learned that Mama is a native to Minnesota and Dad is originally from Wisconin so naturally baby was not even going to be remotely bothered by the slight chill in the air. We had originally planned for a sunset session but you know how weather is and we landed on this lovely cloudy morning. It honestly worked out perfectly. The rich beautiful colors in this gorgeous backdrop have to be a new favorite. & can we just talk about the adorable pup. Oh my goodness. I hope I get more and more clients with their dogs. I couldn’t be more of a dog person if I tried.
This week I am highly reminiscing about my session in Austin. I taught a bunch of incredible women how to shoot more abstract and diffrent by using a little bit of freelensing. For those that don’t know about freelensing, Freelens means being intentional with bokeh and blur. It takes a little bit of patience and practice but combined with lovely colors and light it can absolutely be magical. Moments can be highlighted in such a different way. I am a huge addict of freelensing and sometimes trust it more than my regular focus. I hope you enjoy these photographs. Also austin is beautiful this was just a random house on the block. I need to go back as soon as possible.
A few weeks ago I did this beautiful session at 3:30 pm. Why is that relevant? well if you’re a photographer, then you know how difficult brighter light can be for a session especially with little kiddos. They move fast and they’re unpredictable. Most of the space in this location was also very open. But if you know me, you know that I love a challenge. The Meha family was so beautiful ( as you can see from the photos obv) the babies are actually twins and it’s so funny to me how genes work and how unlike each other they actualy were. I absolutely enjoyed getting to know them, twins run in their family. For mom in both of her parent’s families, so it was def set in the stars to have her be a twin mom. They came in looking so sharp and I am so in love with these images, wide open spaces and a beautiful family in front of it is one of my favorites. I loved the beautiful blue contrasting sky. I hope that they trasure these for years to come.

Oh what a sweet and special time I had reconnecting with this lovely family. Just last summer I was present during this sweet baby girl’s birth. Now close to a year after and a whole world of a difference later here I am again. I honestly wanted nothing than to engage with that beautiful baby and get to hug this incredible mama who I’m sure has had a hell of a year. None the less, I am so grateful they are healthy and we were able to make this sweet shoot happen. Big brother E is just as busy as ever, and completely in love with his little sister. I am so exited to keep on following on their journey! and continue to document their love.
These images were taken in September of last year in the beautiful Austin, Texas! it was a session led by the incredible Stormy Solis. Being in charge of a big event like this means I don’t really shoot a whole lot. But this light and beautiful family couldn’t be ignored, plus it was the last session of the day. It is always so much fun to see how other artists interpret the same subjects. I hope to go back to Austin someday and get to explore a bit more of that incredible city.
Meeting new clients is always so exciting. For this lovely session we were all so grateful at the way the weather gave us a huge break, you just never know what you’ll get in November/December in Chicago. If you’re a Local photographers you know how repetitive locations can feel. My client lives in the area so it was an easy decision to go with something more simple. River Forest and Oak Park have a ton of history and strong elemenets to use. In 2020 I want to add more local photoshoots to my portfolio. There’s something about the way your enviroment changes and the images you can capture there.
Have I mentioned what a sweetheart this little baby was? What a beauty. Honestly the Three of them were just so fun to work with.
Sometimes lovely sessions happen in the bitter cold. I had the honor to photograph this beautiful extended family, and while I wish it was 5 degrees warmer I think we can all agree that their love comes through so clearly in these images.
I hope you enjoy this gallery.
These humans I tell you, they pack in so much beauty and kindness. I’m so honored that I continue to photograph them! The insanity of this session still blows me away. From the light and the cold, goodness the cold. We worked under pressure quickly to achive some pretty great images, If I don’t say so myself.
I hope you enjoy this beautiful gallery.
