    This session was a beautiful way to celebrate baby N’s big one-year milestone. As a Chicago first birthday photoshoot specialist, I love documenting how much a child grows in just twelve months. Furthermore, this specific session felt incredibly personal to me. I originally saw this sweet baby enter the world as her birth photographer. Being a witness to her first breath and now her first birthday is quite an experience.

    Effortless Portraits for the One-Year Milestone

    Many parents worry that a Chicago first birthday photoshoot will feel rigid or stuffy. However, I prefer a documentary approach that allows for movement and play. We brought a simple one-year balloon, but the focus remained on the family’s deep connection. For example, we captured mom spinning the baby and dad nuzzling her close. These small, honest moments are much more meaningful than a traditional “cake smash” because they show who your child truly is.

    This Oak Park family photography session was a wonderful experience to document. Initially, I met this family last year for their maternity session and newborn session and I was thrilled to return for Arden’s first birthday. Because Oak Park is such a vibrant town, we chose to highlight the local architecture and tree-lined streets. Specifically, I believe that the character of this neighborhood adds a timeless feel to every portrait. This specific part of Oak Park is the best for photography sessions. I love the texture on the streets and the hotels still resembling another time.

    Why Milestones Matter

    Furthermore, it is incredibly rewarding to see babies a year after their newborn session. Specifically, being invited back to document such lovely milestones is an honor. The curls on this sweet girl were perfect, and she was so full of smiles and cuddles throughout the shoot. Consequently, her joy reminds me to stay present and remember how swiftly time passes. I photographed this sweet girls newborn session. She got so extremely cute. Her temperament was feisty and sweet at the same time.
