Wheaton IL family photographer | The Flores Family

When I first picked up my camera, I never imagined that families from those early years would still find their way back to me. But the Flores family did. As a Wheaton IL family photographer, some sessions feel like a reunion and this was one of them.

I photographed their oldest when he was little. Now he’s tall, confident, and full of personality. Watching him with his siblings genuinely stopped me in my tracks. The love in this family hasn’t just survived the years, it’s grown.

A Studio Session Full of Real Moments

First, we let the kids do what kids do. There were sibling snuggles, stolen kisses, and a little one planting a big smooch on his brother’s cheek. Everyone dissolved into giggles. That’s the kind of moment I live for as a Wheaton IL family photographer. It’s not something you can pose. It just happens when people feel comfortable.

Mom leaned her head into her son. Dad looked at his kids like they were the best thing he’d ever done. In short, this family was easy to photograph, because the connection was already there.

That’s the work I love most.

Blending Lifestyle and Portraiture as a Wheaton IL Family Photographer

This session was photographed at a studio in Wheaton, IL. I love studio sessions because the clean backdrop lets the family take center stage. However, I didn’t want stiff, formal portraits. Instead, my approach blends documentary candids with intentional posing. So you get frames that look beautiful on a gallery wall and moments that feel completely real.

Additionally, I edited some frames in black and white to bring out the raw emotion. While keeping others in color to show the warmth of the family’s connection.

Pilsen Chicago Newborn Photographer | Lifestyle Session

Pilsen Chicago Newborn Photographer sessions are truly inspiring. The homes in this area have so much light. Recently, I visited this family to see their new baby. We spent the morning in their apartment. In addition, we captured the artistic details of their space. Consequently, the images feel like a perfect reflection of city life.

Choosing a Pilsen Chicago Newborn Photographer

Many families love the urban feel of the city. However, staying inside allows for more intimacy. Specifically, it highlights the bond between parents. Because we were in a familiar space, the baby remained very calm. Therefore, we were able to get sweet shots easily. Indeed, the session was very peaceful.

An Inspiring Home in the Heart of Pilsen

From the moment I stepped into this beautiful Pilsen home, I was in awe. The parents have impeccable taste in decor, making their space ideal for lifestyle newborn photography. My personal favorite detail was the lime wash wall it added a subtle pop of color and texture, inspiring me to incorporate similar elements in my own studio spaces. Every corner of their home reflected care, love, and personality, providing a natural, elegant backdrop for this Pilsen newborn photography, Chicago IL session.

  • Studio Maternity Photography Chicago | Vintage Nightgown Session

Studio Maternity Photography Chicago | Vintage Nightgown Session

She wore her late mother’s nightgown. That’s the thing I keep coming back to when I think about this studio maternity photography session in Chicago. Not the light — though it was gorgeous. Not even the way her husband looked at her, which was the kind of look that makes me feel lucky to do this work. It was the nightgown. Cream, soft, clearly beloved. She told me about it quietly before we started, and I felt it.

That’s what maternity photography is for me. Not the poses. The stories that show up wearing vintage fabric.

Studio maternity photography — which is not my usual

I spend most of my time shooting outdoors or inside people’s homes. Natural chaos, dogs underfoot, kids running past the frame. So when this client booked a studio session, I was curious. Could I find the documentary feeling I love in a controlled environment?

    Yes. Absolutely yes.

The clean walls and soft light gave her something different — space to just be. No wind. No distractions. Just her, her bump, and eventually her husband, who joined us for a few portraits and made the whole room warmer just by being in it.

What I love about documenting pregnancy

Every studio maternity photography session in Chicago carries something I recognize that particular mix of anticipation and vulnerability that comes with waiting for someone you already love completely. I’ve been there myself, and it shaped the way I show up to this work.

This session had all of that, and then some. The nightgown connected three generations in a single frame. Her husband’s tenderness was the kind you can’t manufacture. The light did exactly what I needed it to do.

I came home and immediately wanted to photograph their baby.

If you’re expecting and looking for a Chicago maternity photographer who will actually pay attention — to the details you bring, the mood you’re in, the story underneath the session — I’d love to hear from you.

  • Elgin IL Newborn Photography | At-Home Lifestyle Session

Elgin IL Newborn Photography | At-Home Lifestyle Session

There is a quiet, sacred kind of magic that settles over a home after a baby arrives. As an Elgin IL newborn photography artist, I feel incredibly lucky to witness this bubble. Many people think of newborn photos as babies in baskets. However, my heart belongs to the lifestyle approach. I prefer capturing the real, unscripted love that happens in your own living room.

The Beauty of the “In-Between” Moments

When I arrived at this beautiful home in Elgin, the energy was very calm. Specifically, this is the biggest perk of an at-home session. There is simply no pressure. We aren’t rushing to a studio or worrying about the weather. Instead, we follow the baby’s lead. If they need to nurse, we wait. If they need a snuggle, we capture it.

These sessions are about more than just a cute face. For example, we document the way your hands look holding theirs. We also capture the light hitting the nursery you decorated. Choosing Elgin IL newborn photography in your own space is a wonderful idea. Consequently, every corner of the image has a memory attached to it.

    Creating a Relaxed Experience

Furthermore, I often tell my clients not to worry about a “perfect” house. The most beautiful photos often happen in simple spots. This might be a sun-drenched bed or a rocking chair by the window. My goal is to make you feel comfortable. Therefore, I act more like a friend with a camera than a formal photographer.

To help you prepare, I suggest focusing on comfort. In addition, choose soft textures and neutral tones. These choices let your connection take center stage. For more inspiration, you can check out [suspicious link removed] for color ideas.
