    This Humboldt Park family photography session was such a fun adventure! It just so happened to fall on the same weekend as the Chicago Marathon—oops! I almost forgot, but my amazing clients were total troopers and happily agreed to move our session a bit inland, away from the downtown chaos. Honestly, it turned out to be a blessing in disguise because we discovered the absolute gem that is Humboldt Park.

    Exploring Humboldt Park for Chicago Family Photography

    I had driven past Humboldt Park a few times but never stopped to explore… and wow, what a magical spot! The wide green spaces, the charming paths, and the glowing fall leaves made it feel like we’d stepped into a storybook. Every corner offered something new to capture, and I couldn’t stop smiling as we wandered through the park together. It was one of those sessions where the location feels like it was made just for families like this.

    I’ve had the joy of photographing this family since the birth of their little one, which makes every session extra special.     There is nothing quite like a newborn session in Geneva, IL. When I arrived at this beautiful home, I immediately felt the warmth and love surrounding this new family. The nursery was decorated perfectly. In addition, the soft morning light created a peaceful atmosphere for our lifestyle photos.

    During a newborn session in Geneva, IL, my goal is to capture the quiet moments. I love the way parents look at their new baby when they think no one is watching. For example, we spent time on the master bed just letting the family cuddle. These unposed moments are often the most meaningful. Consequently, they become the images that families cherish the most.

    The older kids were so excited to help, offering snuggles, kisses, and the occasional silly face that made everyone laugh. It’s those little in-between moments that tell the real story the ones where you can see how much love fills their home.

    Their family is the perfect mix of chaos and sweetness. I only have two kids so they give me a little window to look at what life could have been, which I am not sure if that’s weird to say ha, but I can see how sweet it would have been to have a 3rd. They’re just the most beautiful family.

    A Real Day in the Life of a Sweet Warrenville Family

    Documentary family photography Warrenville IL is one of my favorite ways to capture families because it’s all about real life, real moments, and the heart of home. This adorable family had two fun-loving boys: a big brother full of energy and a little brother who melted my heart. Inside their cozy Warrenville home, the laughter was nonstop. Mom nursed the baby while big brother jumped around the bed, filling the room with joy. It was perfectly imperfect exactly what I love about photographing families in their natural environment.

    Backyard Documentary Family Photography in Warrenville IL

    After we finished indoors, we stepped outside to their beautiful garden — a little world of its own. There were chickens wandering, fresh fruit and vegetables growing, and the boys proudly showed me their favorite spots to play. Their big backyard was full of life and future memories. It’s these unscripted moments that make documentary family photography so powerful and lasting. I hope I get to go back and play in this backyard some more in the future. I also just got some inspiration for my future home.
