This week I am highly reminiscing about my session in Austin. I taught a bunch of incredible women how to shoot more abstract and diffrent by using a little bit of freelensing. For those that don’t know about freelensing, Freelens means being intentional with bokeh and blur. It takes a little bit of patience and practice but combined with lovely colors and light it can absolutely be magical. Moments can be highlighted in such a different way. I am a huge addict of freelensing and sometimes trust it more than my regular focus. I hope you enjoy these photographs. Also austin is beautiful this was just a random house on the block. I need to go back as soon as possible.
I came back to visit with this little lady the day after her birth. It was so worth it to be able to see her lovely face again with a little less puffyness and much more calmness. I would honestly recommend a fresh 48 if you budget doesn’t allow for a birth package. It did seem thought that over night the covid guidelines got that much tougher, the air had changed. There was a heavier feeling that things were about to change. This baby was slightly early and I’m so grateful I was able to be a part of documenting her arrival. Also how cute are her grandparents. They were there to welcome her the night before and stayed for a while to help around. I bet they were an amazing help.
Much of our adventures go undocumented nowadays since Im so busy with work and life, I have to make it a point to come back to this. My big boy will be 9 already at the end of the month. How on earth is that possible. It feels like just yesterday I was bringing him home. If you’re a new parent and or a new parent to be know that all the parent cliches are one thousand percent true! Every single one of them. I know I have a special chance to document their childhood and I should take more advantage of that. I can’t wait to have more freesom and explore the city of Chicago with these two more if we can’t venture out further. Life is changing but, it is also coming together at the same time.

I made it, I finally got to see this beautiful boy again.
He was my first hospital birth, my only complaint would be those thin mattresses used for the birthing partner to sleep on, holy ouch. That’s a no from me. lol. How do they make partners nap or even sleep overnight there? I was able to test them out during my birth session with them. While uncomfortable It was still such an honor to see this sweet little guy make his very vocal entrance onto this world.
I couldn’t believe how alert and big he had gotten. I know a ton of my colleagues are not fond of 3 months sessions because babies are not able to sit or do much. But that’s the point!!! (me with my shouty exclamation points) They are this lovely tiny human just needing their moms just as much as a newborn while smiling and cooing and just being rad.
bring on more 3-month sessions, please!

It feels like this was the calm after the storm. I captured this little family as they welcomed their baby at home 2 weeks prior to this image. In reality, this is probably the beginning of a new storm, a beautiful one at that. Angela, however, seems fully equipped to deal with the toughest of storms. The way she so calmly gave birth and the way she treats her oldest, I know for sure she is so ready for the new sweet baby girl. This whole family is just inspiring. They welcomed me into their home, and I just felt so incredibly comfortable. They made my job effortless.
Sometimes we get lucky like that! I wish them all the best as they start their new journey as a family of four.
