Goodbye summer | Adri De La Cruz- Chicago + West suburbs family photographer

Yesterday it felt like a sweet goodbye to summer. Yes, while I know the weather is so unpredictable I felt this overwhelming need to capture these very last moments of summer for my kids. I turned on the sprinkler for about 15 minutes and captured their joy. but let’s be honest there were also moments of them fighting for the best spot near the water. After this summer I no longer have a kid at home to keep me busy. There is so much change ahead for us. Schedules are getting full, and so are backpacks.

Next week is the first day of school for my littlest, she’s starting prek. I know she’s going to love it, she is one of the most extroverted kids I know. I look forward to hearing all of the stories. Change is never easy. Nonetheless, we just have to keep moving forward.

Oh man! this baby and those eyes. He smiled from the moment he arrived until he left. I had such a lovely time photographing this beautiful family. They truly made my job so so easy! I am so so glad that we pulled an early 8 am session for this one, the heat is unbearable lately, and this babe, I think really appreciated the shade and the promptness. I had this idea for incorporating a waterfall, but we changed the plans to this little patch of grass, and I love how these turned out. Mr. William was all smiles!

Moments with them, spring beach day | Adri De La Cruz Photographer, Chicago and west suburbs family photographer

I hate that it took me almost a year to blog these. This was actually last spring, in April. We had such a warm start to our Spring so I loaded my kids and headed towards Indiana. Just a spur of the moment.

Since last year I bet you can guess how much they’ve changed, They are both so much taller but also a lot less patient with me and my camera tendencies. If you’re a mom and are wanting genuine moments with your kids I would say to stop worrying about the smiles and posed images.

I can remember my mom describing my wild antics but only wished there was a photograph to see them, because I know I was wild. I just don’t have the proof of how much :P. I cannot stress enough how important it is to document your kids as they are.  The way their silly girn was full of tiny teeth or the untamed baby hair or in our case the gallos, a Mexican word for hairs that stand straight up and cannot tame no matter what you try. Below you can see all of that in my kids.  Also my daughter in the way she removed her shirt to match her brothers.

TIME JUST FLIES WHEN YOU’RE HAVING FUN!

I’m in awe of time, still. Even after having my two babies, I can never believe that time actually flies as quick as it does.  I have the honor to capture all of sweet little H’s first year of life and even when he was in his mom’s belly. I am so excited for our next session. take a peek at how much joy he radiates.

Can’t remember the day, day. Chicago + West suburbs family photographer

I loved this. day.

We got there way to late, and were not able to hang out in the kids section of this park. But I think they still enjoyed running and exploring. This was back in August. so I have a few images to catch up on. And not many words to share since the time difference kills me. All I remember from this day was trying to catch the shapes in the frame, and loving this beautiful light.

Wentworth Family Session

The first time we scheduled their session, I unfortunately couldn’t make it in time for some sun. Thankfully the next time we tried to schedule the session it all worked out and it was an incredibly warm fall day. I was invited in to their beautiful home. We hadn’t plan on going inside, but I am so very thankful they invited me in. Some of my favorite images from this session are inside their little home. When I stepped inside, Dad was getting baby S ready. She, from the beginning was all full of smiles. From inside their home, you could see and feel the love. The photos on their walls really showed me how connected they were. I specially loved that framed hearts art work, that was made at their wedding.

I wish I had captured more of their little neighbor hood, which was so incredibly adorable . We decided to head to the park, to get some shoots of baby S in her favorite place.  Hope you enjoy the images.

Project 5for5 days

More failures to add

So here I am. Last month I attempted a P/30 and I will humbly say that it was not a success.  My heart just was not into it. The images I took were not my best, it was like a chore to me. It was dreadful. Maybe I’m just not a “project ” person. I just have to accept it and move on. I’m at a point in my life where realizations are so incredibly welcomed. I have stopped trying to be someone I’m not, and this is another step in the right direction. Will I try again? Who knows , maybe. It was a little disappointing  to not pull through for myself for a month alone. But alas, some friends on facebook. tagged me to join along this week and share 5 for 5 days, easy enough right? Well here we go.. wish me luck.
